Open your mouth with an opinion,
and she’s changed the subject.
If she asks you a question,
She’ll answer it herself and be displeased
with your typical male lack of vision
Get a word in edgewise,
and she frowns at your bad manners.
Contradict, and she complains of a cold.
Unfold a poem and she protests
of broken glasses, and so cannot listen.
Move toward the door
and she begs you to stay, inviting you back
all the way to the car.
